]-[Entry 1: Rata Sum] by Xeck Jovan-[

Upon my return with Xeilas, I couldn't help but think about my lab. There were probably stacks of files, documenting incomplete projects and half-supported research. But organization wasn't my objective at the time. There was still an idea set into my head since going out into the field. 'What if my Krewe expanded outward into Tyria and observed, scientifically, the raw grasp of mother nature? There would be an inexplicable amount of data that would require more tests before our findings could be turned into innovative theories. But, I must admit, I was engulfed with a magic-like zeal for exploring Tyria. Seeing what the world has to offer interests me more than sitting in the lab for long hours every day. I don't know where this lust for discovery has taken route. Maybe it was because of my past years in the college of Dynamics, or maybe because of my upbringing as a progeny. All I know is that now the only option for success would be to apply what my Krewe discovers to the land.

But that would have to wait. My Krewe has looked forward to finishing a project. If we can get enough respect and admiration for our soon to be discovery, we can grow more than just the three of us. Walking around the accounting plaza in Rata Sum, I was able to spot one of my Krewe mates, Zazag.

I had met him during my college years because of my other Krewe mate, and we have held together our research for a good few months. Now as I headed towards his direction, calling out, Xeilas had a quiet demeanor. He had already articulated his feelings for not joining a Krewe, but I wanted to see if I could give him a good impression of it. I called out to Zazag jokingly, "Hey, Krewe mate", which made several people in the crowd turn their heads thinking it was one of their own calling to them. This made me chuckle nervously. Zazag had gotten the message, and smiled smugly as he walked in my direction, "Xeck, have you found any interesting findings in Divinity's Reach?"

I shook my head at this, "Negative. Well almost. I was able to obtain some answers from a human's perspective about their weather, as there weren't any extraordinary meteorological discoveries with the equipment I had. The weather was, to simply put it, fair."

"Make sure to put your findings on file. Even the simplest measurements on humidity and temperature can be variables for the device."

That was Zazag, always one to take the safe path with doing research. Many times have occurred when I didn't properly put my work into a report for later reviewing, and I'd often have trouble with my experiments' final touches.

But I digress. I spoke up, "Hey, before I forget, Zazag, this is Xeilas. He's helped me significantly with my research", and at which Xeilas took off his glove and extended his right hand.

"Pleasure to meet you", He said smoothly. Zazag shook Xeilas hand as well,

"Hello."

I could felt a slight tension from the too of them, and decided to put in another point,

"Don't worry Zazag, Xeilas doesn't bite. I believe he's been to Divinity's Reach for business, and has lived in Lion's Arch for some time." Xeilas poised up and interjected,

"I've been around.... basically... everywhere." Zazag responded to this,

"And so have I."

For a brief moment there was silence. "Hey, Xeilas, I don't intend to keep you from your business, but would you care to see the lab I work at, even for just a short amount of time?" Xeilas nodded,

"Sure, I don't mind at all."

Zazag looked around for a moment, "Hold on, you haven't met Crim yet, Crim would want to be introduced as well. I'll go fetch him", and he left promptly into the crowd.

Me and Xeilas stood about for a few minutes. The population was out in force. There were Asura going to and from the market and bank, some apprentices transporting goods and lab supplies, and loud lab managers who were trying to recruit youthful Asura to join their Krewe. While some Krewes are especially competitive with each other, others can go to great lengths of slander and treachery. I could see it in their eyes as they spoke to groups of newly graduated Asura, "We're testing in Post-phase testing of Chaos material, join our Krewe and build the strongest golems known to Rata Sum!", "Like studying the Eternal? Finding out how our world works? Joining our Krewe will set you off on the right start", "Want to take matters into your own hands? Tired of being restricted from working on a personal project? JOIN THE INQUEST TODAY". There was a sense of superiority and great intellect, but a lack of interest for krewe recruits. Aside from the Inquest, who really will go so far as to use recruits as test experiments, Krewes usually have new recruits set for menial research tasks. These assistants typically go up in rank for the work they do and the discoveries they find. I turned to look at Xeilas after 5 minutes of waiting. He was quiet, with his arms crossed, starring into the crowd. Has he ever been in a lab environment before?

"Hey.... Xeilas, you have to meet Crim, he's witty and funny. I was wondering too, have you been in a lab before?" Xeilas shook his head, and aimed his view at the ground,

"Not at all... I've never been in lab before."

"WHAT? You haven't been in a lab before? You haven't seen wonderful inventions, the magic of science at work-" and before I could go on, Zazag arrived with Crimsonarian, my other Krewe mate.

"Xeilas, this is Crim", Zazag said, "Crim, this is Xeilas". Crim walked up and introduced himself,

"Crimonarian at your service. Crim for short. And this is Poley Mcgee", and pointed to his polar bear pet.

I was still awe struck at the fact that Xeilas has never been to a lab, "My Krewe, we should show Xeilas our lab, he's never been to one."

Zazag nodded, "Here, follow me", and we made our way to the Transport gates, one of which led to our destination...
